About this tool
Group and summarize CSV or Excel data, like a simple pivot table: total sales per region, the number of orders per customer, or the average, lowest and highest price per category. Leave the groups empty to get one row of totals for the whole file.
It runs in your browser and the file is never uploaded. Group by up to 10 columns and add up to 20 summaries. Empty cells are skipped, and the result can be sorted by group or by the first summary, largest first.
How to use it
- Choose or drop one CSV, Excel (XLSX) or JSON file and check its columns in the preview.
- Tick the columns to “Group by”, such as region or customer.
- Under “Summaries”, choose a column, a calculation such as “Sum” or “Mean” and a “Result name” for each summary; a “Count” without a column counts rows.
- Choose how to “Sort result” and the “Output format”, then select Run and download the summary.

Common questions
Why does Sum fail with a column type error?
“Sum” and “Mean” need a number column. Leave “Store number columns as numbers” on. A column with text such as 1,000 or €5 is read as text and cannot be summed until the separators or symbols are removed.
What is the difference between Count and Distinct count?
“Count” with a column counts its non-empty cells, and without a column counts rows. “Distinct count” counts the different values, for example how many different customers ordered in each region.
How are empty cells handled?
Every summary skips empty cells, so a mean is the average of the values that are present. A group whose cells are all empty gets an empty result.
Can I name the result columns?
Yes. The “Result name” of each summary becomes its column header. Names must not repeat a group column or another summary.
Can it build a cross-tab with groups as columns?
No. Each group is one row and each summary one column. For a cross-tab, open the result in a spreadsheet and pivot it there.
Is my file uploaded to a server?
No. The summary is computed in your browser, so the file never leaves your device.
