About this tool
See the public IP address you use to reach this site, and look up the country, region and city of any IPv4 or IPv6 address or domain. Use it to check which address you appear from behind a VPN or proxy, to see roughly where a server or a suspicious login comes from, or to list every address a domain resolves to.
Your own address loads as soon as the page opens. A domain is resolved through public DNS and each of its addresses gets its own row, IPv4 first. Locations come from the DB-IP City Lite database (CC BY 4.0) and are approximate. The address or domain you enter is looked up on this site’s server and not stored.
How to use it
- Open the page. “Your IP address” shows your public address and its location; select “Copy” to copy it.
- To look up another address, enter an IP address or a domain in “IP address or domain”.
- Select “Look up”.
- Read each IP address, its version (IPv4 or IPv6) and its “Location”.
Common questions
Why is the location wrong or only a country?
Locations come from the free DB-IP City Lite database and are approximate. The city in particular can be off, and some addresses have only a country or no location at all. Behind a VPN or proxy you see the location of its exit address.
Why is this different from the IP in my network settings?
The page shows the public address you reach this site from. Behind a home router, a company network, a VPN or a proxy, that address differs from the private address, such as 192.168.1.10, that your device shows.
Does it show the ISP or ASN?
No. Only the country, region and city are shown.
What happens with a private address such as 192.168.1.1?
Private and reserved addresses are not on the public internet, so they are marked “Private or reserved address” and have no location.
Is the address I look up stored?
No. The address or domain you enter is looked up on this site’s server and not stored.
