About this tool
Draw random numbers in a range to pick prize winners by number, call on a random student, assign seats, shuffle a running order or make test data. For example, number 200 participants and draw 3 different winners from 1 to 200.
Draw up to 10,000 integers or decimals at once, with or without repeats, sorted or in the order drawn. Integers of any size are exact, and decimals can have 0 to 15 places. Numbers come from the browser’s cryptographic random generator in this page, and nothing is uploaded or stored.
How to use it
- Choose “Integers” or “Decimals”.
- Enter the “Minimum”, the maximum (included for integers, not for decimals) and “How many” to draw, from 1 to 10,000. For decimals, also set the “Decimal places”.
- Keep “No repeats” ticked if every number should be different, and pick an “Order” and a “Separator”.
- Select “Generate”, then “Copy” or “Download” the results.
Common questions
Is the maximum included?
For integers, yes: 1 to 100 can give 100. For decimals the maximum is not included, so 0 to 1 with 2 decimal places gives values from 0.00 to 0.99.
Are the numbers really random and fair?
They come from crypto.getRandomValues, the browser’s cryptographic random generator, and rejection sampling makes every value in the range equally likely. There is no seed, so a draw cannot be repeated with the same settings.
Why does it say there are not that many different numbers in the range?
With “No repeats” on, you cannot draw more numbers than the range holds: 1 to 100 gives at most 100. For decimals each step of the last decimal place counts, so 0 to 1 with 2 places holds 100 values. Widen the range or untick “No repeats”.
How large can the numbers be?
Integers are handled as exact whole numbers of any length, so ranges with 20 or more digits and negative numbers both work. Decimals use ordinary floating-point numbers with up to 15 decimal places.
How do I get the results sorted on one line?
Choose “Ascending” or “Descending” under “Order”, and “Commas” or “Spaces” under “Separator”. The numbers then appear on one line instead of one per line.
