About this tool

See everything the clipboard holds after you copy something: the plain text, the HTML source behind copied web content, images and files. It helps when pasted text brings unexpected formatting, when you want the HTML source of a copied table, or when you need to save a copied screenshot as an image file.

Press Ctrl+V (⌘V) on the page, or use the button and allow access. Each format is listed with its type and size; HTML can also be viewed rendered with scripts removed, and images and files can be saved. The contents are shown in this page only and are not uploaded.

How to use it

  1. Copy something in any app, such as some text, part of a web page or a screenshot.
  2. Press Ctrl+V (⌘V) on this page, or select “Read the clipboard” and allow access if the browser asks.
  3. Check the list of formats at the top, then look at each one: text is shown as it is, and HTML has a “Rendered (scripts removed)” view you can open.
  4. Select “Save” under an image or file to download it.

Common questions

What if “Read the clipboard” does not work?

Some browsers block a page from reading the clipboard or ask you first. If access is not allowed, the page tells you to paste with Ctrl+V (⌘V) instead, which needs no extra permission.

Why do I see both text/plain and text/html?

Many apps put the same content on the clipboard in several formats, and the app you paste into picks one of them. text/html carries formatting such as fonts, links and tables, while text/plain is the bare text.

Is the rendered HTML view safe?

Before it is shown, the HTML is cleaned with DOMPurify, which removes scripts and other active content. The source itself is displayed as plain text.

How do I save a copied screenshot as a file?

Copy the screenshot, paste it here, and select “Save” below the preview. The file keeps the name the clipboard gives it, or gets a name such as clipboard.png when there is none.

Is long text shown in full?

Each text format shows up to its first 50,000 characters.
