About this tool

Pack several files into one ZIP archive, for example to send a batch of photos or documents as a single email attachment, to hand in several files where a form accepts only one upload, or to keep related files together for storage.

Up to 100 files of any type, 80 MB in total, go into one ZIP with the name you choose. Files with the same name are renamed automatically, so none is overwritten. Everything is packed in your browser, and the files are not uploaded.

How to use it

  1. Choose up to 100 files of any type, or drop them on the page.
  2. Enter the “Output file name”. It must end in .zip and is results.zip by default; “Duplicate names” is set to “Rename automatically”.
  3. Select Run to pack the files.
  4. Download the ZIP. Its contents are not previewed on the page.

Common questions

What happens to files with the same name?

The first one keeps its name and the others get a number before the extension, such as “photo (2).jpg”. Names that differ only in upper and lower case count as the same name.

Can I keep a folder structure?

No. You choose individual files, and all of them go into the top level of the ZIP, without folders.

Why is the ZIP barely smaller than the files?

The files are compressed with Deflate, which helps a lot with text, documents and other uncompressed data. Photos, videos, music and other ZIP files are already compressed, so they hardly shrink.

Will non-English file names display correctly?

Names are stored in UTF-8, and the ZIP marks them as UTF-8. Unzip programs that read this mark show them correctly; if an older program shows garbled names, try another one.

Are the original file dates kept?

No. Every file in the ZIP gets the date and time the archive was created, not its original modification time.
