About this tool
Preview a font file or an installed font before you use it. Compare how it looks at different sizes while choosing a font, check whether it contains the Chinese characters or symbols you need, or look up its family name, style and version.
TTF, OTF, WOFF and WOFF2 files are supported, and you can open several fonts and switch between them. Your own preview text is shown at 72, 48, 36, 24, 16 and 12 px plus a size you choose. The glyph grid lists every character the font maps and can be searched by character or U+ code. Fonts are read in this browser only and are not uploaded.
How to use it
- Select “Open font files” and choose one or more TTF, OTF, WOFF or WOFF2 files. In browsers that support it, you can also select “Installed fonts”, allow access, and pick one under “Installed font”.
- Check the family, style, full name, version, outlines and glyph count in the table.
- Type your own words into “Preview text” and drag the “Size” slider (8 to 160 px) to add a size.
- Browse the characters under “Glyphs”, or type text or a code such as U+4E2D into “Find characters or U+ code”. Select a character to enlarge it and copy it.
- When several fonts are open, switch between them with the buttons showing each file or font name.
Common questions
How can I check whether a font has the characters I need?
Paste the text into “Find characters or U+ code”. The grid shows only the characters the font has, and any it lacks are listed after “Not in this font”. This is handy for rare Chinese characters, punctuation and symbols.
Why do “Glyphs” and “Characters” show different numbers?
“Glyphs” counts every shape in the font, including ligatures and alternates that have no character of their own. “Characters” counts the Unicode code points mapped to a glyph, and those are what the glyph grid shows.
Why can a font file not be opened?
The page reads TrueType and OpenType (.ttf, .otf), WOFF and WOFF2 fonts. Font collections such as .ttc files and damaged files cannot be read, and the page says so.
Why is there no “Installed fonts” button?
Reading installed fonts needs the browser’s Local Font Access feature, mainly found in desktop Chrome and Edge, and the browser asks for permission the first time. Elsewhere the button is hidden, but you can still open font files.
Are my fonts uploaded?
No. Fonts are read and displayed in this browser only, and they are released when you close the page.

Convert font format
Convert fonts between TTF/OTF, WOFF and WOFF2 without changing any glyph. Outlines stay as they are, so a TrueType font stays TTF and a CFF font stays OTF.
Subset a font
Keep only the characters you list in a TTF, OTF, WOFF or WOFF2 font, so a web font shrinks from megabytes to kilobytes. Layout features for the kept characters stay.
