Change video speed
Speed up or slow down MP4, MOV, WebM and MKV videos from 0.25× to 4×, with the sound at its own pitch, sped up with it, or removed. Up to 60 frames a second every frame is kept and only retimed.

About this tool
Speed up or slow down a video from 0.25× to 4×: shorten a long screen recording, make a fast-motion clip, or slow down a key moment. MP4, MOV, WebM and MKV videos keep their format and file name, and nothing is uploaded.
The sound can keep its normal pitch, so voices still sound natural, follow the speed like a tape played faster, or be removed. As long as the new frame rate stays at or below 60 frames a second, every frame is kept and only retimed, so the picture loses no quality and the job is quick. Up to 5 videos, 80 MB in total, go in one run.
How to use it
- Choose or drop up to 5 MP4, MOV, WebM or MKV videos, 80 MB in total.
- Enter the “Speed” from 0.25 to 4: 2 plays twice as fast, 0.5 at half speed.
- Pick what happens to the “Sound”: “Change speed, keep the pitch”, “Pitch follows the speed” or “Remove the sound”.
- Select Run, play the result in the preview and download it, or download all of them as a ZIP.

Common questions
Does speeding up a video lower its quality?
Usually not. When the new frame rate stays at 60 frames a second or less, for example a 30 fps video at 2×, every frame is kept and only shown sooner, without re-encoding the picture. Faster than that, for example 30 fps at 3× or 4×, the video is re-encoded at 30 fps and the frames in between are dropped.
Why does my slowed-down video look choppy?
Slowing down keeps every frame and shows each one longer; no frames are invented in between. A 30 fps video at 0.5× plays at 15 frames a second, which looks less smooth, while a 60 fps video at 0.5× still plays at a smooth 30.
Will voices sound normal at another speed?
With “Change speed, keep the pitch” the sound is time-stretched, so speech keeps its normal pitch, as with the speed setting of a podcast app. With “Pitch follows the speed”, voices get higher when sped up and deeper when slowed down, like a tape played at another speed.
Is the sound re-encoded?
Yes. The sound is always decoded and encoded again, as AAC in MP4 and MOV and as Opus in WebM and MKV, so the browser must be able to decode the video’s sound. If it cannot, choose “Remove the sound” or try another browser.
Related tools
Extract audio from video (MP4 to MP3)
Take the sound out of MP4, MOV, MKV or WebM video and convert it to MP3, M4A, OGG, WebM or WAV, or keep the track unchanged in its own container, optionally trimmed. Files are not uploaded.
Compress video
Make MP4, MOV, WebM and MKV videos smaller by quality level, target file size or bitrate, with an optional resolution limit. Encodes H.264 (MP4), VP9 (WebM) or AV1 (MP4) with the browser’s own encoder.
Convert video format
Convert between MP4, WebM, MKV and MOV; MP4 and MOV get H.264 video and AAC sound so any player opens them, and other formats copy streams when they can. Scale down, remove the sound or trim at the same time. Encoding uses the browser.
Crop video
Crop the picture of MP4, MOV, WebM and MKV videos to one region, in pixels or percent, to cut off black bars, a watermark corner or anything outside the subject. The sound is kept as it is.
Remove background noise from video
Clean the sound of MP4, MOV, WebM and MKV videos: hum, hiss, wind, fans and room noise are removed from speech by RNNoise in your browser. The picture is copied as it is; only the sound is encoded again.
Remove audio from video
Mute MP4, MOV, WebM and MKV videos by removing the audio track. The picture is copied without re-encoding, so its quality, resolution and rotation stay exactly the same.
