About this tool
Tidy mixed Chinese and English text before you publish it. The tool puts one space between Chinese characters and English words or numbers, so the result reads like 用 iPhone 16 打了 3 个电话. Use it on articles, product copy, README files or notes pasted together from different sources.
Optionally, half-width commas, full stops, question marks, exclamation marks, colons and semicolons that follow a Chinese character become Chinese punctuation, and round brackets around Chinese text become (). Paragraph tidying merges runs of blank lines and extra spaces. Up to 1 MB of text is processed in your browser and is not uploaded.

Common questions
Where exactly are spaces added?
Between a Chinese character or Japanese kana and an English letter or digit, in either order. Symbols such as $ and @ right after Chinese text, and %, closing brackets or half-width punctuation right before it, also get a space, as in 50% 的. Full-width punctuation such as ,and 。 never has a space beside it, and existing spaces there are removed.
Which marks does “Use Chinese punctuation after Chinese text” change?
Only half-width commas, full stops, question marks, exclamation marks, colons and semicolons directly after a Chinese character, plus round brackets whose content includes Chinese. Marks after English words, marks followed directly by a digit and quotation marks stay as they are. To convert every mark in a text, use Punctuation converter.
What does “Tidy paragraphs and spaces” do?
It removes spaces between two Chinese characters, shrinks a run of spaces inside a line to one, turns several blank lines in a row into one and drops blank lines at the start and end. It does not join lines or add indentation.
Why did the indentation at the start of my paragraphs disappear?
“Trim spaces at line ends” removes spaces at both ends of every line, including the full-width spaces often used to indent Chinese paragraphs. Turn it off to keep the indentation.
