About this task

Gmail and Outlook.com accept up to 25 MB of attachments per email, and many forms and support sites set the same limit. This page opens the video compressor with a 25 MB target and H.264 MP4 output, which opens on any phone or computer the email reaches.

The tool takes the video’s length, works out the bitrate that fits, and lowers the resolution when 25 MB is too little for the original size: a minute of 1080p usually stays 1080p, while several minutes drop to 720p or below. Up to 5 videos, 80 MB in total, are compressed in your browser.

How to do it

  1. Choose or drop the video, such as an MP4 or an iPhone MOV.
  2. Keep “Target size” at 25. If the email will carry other attachments, enter less, such as 20.
  3. Select Run and check the new size next to the file.
  4. Download the MP4 and attach it to your email.

Common questions

My email still says the attachment is too big. What now?

Some services count all attachments together, or the message’s own encoding, against the limit, and work mail servers are often stricter. Compress again with a smaller target, such as 20 MB or 15 MB.

How long a video fits in 25 MB?

About a minute looks good at 1080p, around three minutes at 720p and about seven minutes at 480p. Past about 20 minutes even a small picture would not fit, and the tool tells you how large a target the video needs instead.

Does compressing to 25 MB remove the sound?

No, the sound is kept and re-encoded at a modest bitrate if needed. Choosing “Remove” under “Sound” leaves more room for the picture.
