About this tool
Fill in a PDF form in your browser: text fields, check boxes, radio buttons, dropdowns and lists appear as controls right where they are on the pages, so you type and tick as on paper. Save the filled PDF with its fields still editable, or flattened so the answers become part of the page.
This works with fillable PDF forms (AcroForm fields). Answers already in the form are shown and can be changed, except in read-only fields. The PDF stays in your browser and is not uploaded.
How to use it
- Choose or drop a fillable PDF form.
- Fill in the fields on the pages. Fields that are not on the first 100 pages are listed under “Other fields”.
- Tick “Flatten: make the answers part of the page so they can no longer be edited” when the form is final, or leave it unticked to keep the fields editable.
- Select “Save filled PDF” to download the copy, named after the original with “-filled” added.
Common questions
What if my PDF has no fillable fields?
Many PDFs only look like forms: the lines and boxes are part of the page. The page then says the PDF has no fillable fields; use “Sign PDF” instead to click on the page and add text, dates and ticks wherever you need them.
What does flattening do?
It draws the answers into the page and removes the fields, so the form can no longer be changed in a PDF viewer and looks the same everywhere. If you may need to correct it later, also save a copy without flattening.
Can I fill in Chinese or other languages?
Yes. Western text is drawn with the standard Helvetica font. Text that font cannot show, such as Chinese or Japanese, is kept in the field for PDF viewers to display, and when you flatten the form it is drawn into the page as a picture. If the browser cannot draw it, the page asks you to save without flattening.
Why can’t I fill in my form?
Forms built with XFA (dynamic Adobe forms) are not supported. Password-protected PDFs must first be unlocked with “Unlock PDF”, and PDFs that are already digitally signed are refused, because any change would invalidate the signature. Damaged files and documents over 500 pages are refused too, and read-only fields cannot be changed.
Is my form uploaded?
No. The form is read and filled in your browser, and the PDF stays on your device; the filled copy is saved as a new file.
