Crop images

Crop one region from every image, in pixels or percent, as a rectangle, a circle or ellipse, or a rounded rectangle. Outside a shape is transparent, so JPEG and BMP shapes are saved as PNG.

About this tool

Crop the same region out of a batch of images, for example to trim the margins off scanned pages, cut the status bar from a set of phone screenshots, or make round profile pictures. Set the region as a percentage of each image or in exact pixels.

Besides rectangles, you can cut a circle or ellipse or a rounded rectangle. Outside the shape is transparent, so JPG and BMP shapes are saved as PNG. Up to 20 images (8 MB each) are cropped at once, right in your browser, and nothing is uploaded.

How to use it

  1. Choose up to 20 JPG, PNG, WebP, GIF, BMP or TIFF images, or drop them on the page.
  2. Pick a “Unit”, then set the “Left offset”, “Top offset”, “Crop width” and “Crop height”.
  3. Choose a “Shape”. For a “Rounded rectangle”, set the “Corner radius” as a percentage of the shorter side.
  4. Select Run.
  5. Preview the results, then download them one by one or all together as a ZIP.

Common questions

How do I crop a perfect circle?

Choose “Circle or ellipse”. The shape fills the crop region, so it is a circle only when the region is square in pixels; on a non-square image, equal percentages give an ellipse. Switch “Unit” to “Pixels” and enter the same width and height.

Why was my JPG saved as a PNG?

Circles and rounded rectangles have transparent corners, which JPG and BMP cannot store, so those results are saved as PNG. PNG, WebP, GIF and TIFF keep their format, and rectangles always keep the original format. GIF pixels are either fully transparent or solid, so shape edges in a GIF are not smoothed.

Why do I get an error that the region extends past the image?

In percent, “Left offset” plus “Crop width”, and “Top offset” plus “Crop height”, must each stay within 100. In pixels, the region must fit inside every image in the batch, so percent is the safer choice for images of different sizes.

Does cropping resize the image or lower its quality?

Nothing is resized: the result is the cropped region at the original resolution. JPG and WebP results are saved again at quality 0.92, and EXIF details such as location are not kept.
