Convert PNG to JPG
Convert PNG screenshots and graphics to JPG in your browser. Transparent areas get a white background you can change, and the files usually get much smaller.

About this task
PNG keeps every pixel exactly, which makes photos and screenshots large: a full-screen PNG screenshot can easily take several megabytes. Converting it to JPG at quality 0.85, as this page is set up to do, usually leaves a fraction of that size, and forms that accept only JPG will take it.
JPG cannot store transparency, so transparent areas such as logo backgrounds are filled with the “Background for JPEG and BMP” colour, white here. Width and height stay the same. Up to 20 PNG files of up to 25 MB each are converted in your browser, and none of them is uploaded.
How to do it
- Choose or drop up to 20 PNG images.
- Keep “Format” on JPG. To fill transparent areas with another colour, enter it as #RRGGBB under “Background for JPEG and BMP”.
- Select Run and check the results, especially around text and sharp edges.
- Download the JPGs one by one or as a ZIP.
Common questions
Will text in a screenshot look worse as JPG?
Slightly: JPG can leave faint halos around sharp letters and lines. At quality 0.85 they are hard to see; raise the quality to 0.95 for screenshots full of small text, or keep text-heavy images as PNG.
My logo has a transparent background. What will it look like?
The transparent parts become solid white, or the colour you enter, and half-transparent edges are blended with it. For a logo that must stay transparent, convert it to WebP instead, which keeps transparency.
Is the conversion lossless?
No. JPG is a lossy format, so a little detail is lost at any quality below 1. Keep the original PNG if you may need to edit the image again.
