About this tool
Read what a QR code or barcode contains from a screenshot, photo or scanned image. Use it to get the link behind a QR code in a screenshot, to check what a printed code holds before you scan it with your phone, or to read the number on a product barcode.
It reads QR codes (including Micro QR and rMQR), Data Matrix, PDF417, Aztec and 1D barcodes such as EAN-13, UPC-A and Code 128. One run takes up to 20 PNG, JPEG or WebP images and finds up to 20 codes in each. The reader runs in your browser, so the images are not uploaded.
How to use it
- Choose up to 20 PNG, JPEG or WebP images, or drop them on the page. You can also select Use example to try a sample QR code.
- Under “Look for”, keep “Any code” or pick one type, such as “QR codes” or “Barcodes (1D)”. Leave “Try harder” on: it is slower but searches more thoroughly.
- Select Run.
- Preview the decoded text, one code per line, then download codes.txt, the more detailed codes.json, or both as a ZIP.

Common questions
What if no code is found?
When none of the images contains a readable code, the run ends with an error instead of an empty result. Keep “Try harder” on and try a sharper image in which the whole code is visible.
Can it read several codes in one image?
Yes, up to 20 per image. In codes.txt each code is on its own line, and when you read several images each line starts with the file name followed by a tab. codes.json also lists each code's format, its position in the image and, where available, its error correction level.
Which image formats can I use?
PNG, JPEG and WebP: up to 20 images and 50 MB in total, each at most 24 megapixels. Other formats, such as HEIC or GIF, need to be converted first.
Does the tool open the links it finds?
No. It only shows the text stored in the code, so you can check a link before you decide to visit it.
Are my images uploaded?
No. Decoding runs in your browser, and the images stay on your device.
